Chris Bradley

"It's information management Jim, but not as we know it"

Could these be the words of Chief (data) Engineer Scotty on board the Starship Enterprise? Enterprise information asset management that is! He'd be an avid reader of this channel if it made it out into Federation space :)

Welcome to the Christopher Bradley Information Asset Management Channel for the BeyeNETWORK. This channel is dedicated to end-to-end process of managing your information as a real asset. These processes (and the associated technologies) include:

-Asset discovery

-Information quality and profiling

-Data transformation and movement

-Information and process modelling

-Information and metadata repositories

-Information analytics and

-Governance

As an information professional have you ever heard any of these when discussing information management?

"It gets in the way".

"It takes too much time".

"What's the point of it"?

"It's not relevant to today's systems landscape".

"I don't need to do modelling, the package has it all".

If so, this channel is for you because that's the real world we live in and the areas I'll be discussing every month.

I hope you can join me!

I welcome your comments, questions and any suggestions you may have. Please e-mail them to me at chris.bradley@ipl.com

Ronald Damhof

Welcome to the Ronald Damhof channel for the BeyeNETWORK. This channel is all about Decision Support and Data Management. Most people will translate these subjects into Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, but in my opinion that just won't cut these days.

Two aspects concerning Decision Support and Data Management can be considered an important theme throughout this channel; Rigor and Relevance and the difficult balance between these two. On the one hand we need more rigor, more depth, more theory building, more empirical proof on important issues and solutions that are written down or are even implemented. On the other hand we need also relevance; spending resources of any kind to issues or solutions nobody needs is just 'blowing smoke' and creates a mish-mash of fuzzy thinking and incomprehensible jargon (J.Dearden-1980-MIS is a Mirage (Harvard Business Review).

Researches and practitioners are the ones that hold in their hands the responsibility of bringing rigor and relevance to the table and thus contribute to the body of knowledge regarding Decision Support and Data Management.

This channel is an attempt to function as a voice for anyone that wants to listen or contribute to the above. Please feel free to share your ideas, tips, articles, whitepapers or whatever. My contact details are:

Barry Devlin

Hello! And welcome to the Barry Devlin Expert Channel for the BeyeNETWORK. Those of you who recognize the name will know me as an old hand at data warehousing - dating back to even before the well-known "fathers" of the topic. Over 25 years ago, when I created my first data warehouse architecture, success was getting the same answer to the same query asked by two different departments. These days, business demands much more: consistent answers for sure, but also timeliness, flexibility and speed across the entire information resource of the business. And technology can do so much more too. I believe these changes are fundamentally reinventing business intelligence, and in this channel I will be pushing you to consider new ideas within and beyond the boundaries of traditional business intelligence (BI) to see how you can recreate your world. Please feel free to email me at mbarry@9sight.com with your comments or suggestions on how I can provide the most relevant information to you.

Andy Hayler

This channel is devoted to master data management (MDM). This is where an organization wishes to manage its shared data (such as customer, product or location data) better. It includes organizational elements such as data governance, as well as technologies, such as MDM platforms and data quality tools. If you have one and only one source of data in your organization, and have complete confidence in its accuracy, completeness and timelines then congratulations - that is one unusual place that you work, but you can safely not bother with this channel. Otherwise, you might learn something.

I welcome your comments and questions and any suggestions you may have. Please e-mail them to me at andy.hayler@informationdifference.com

Rick van der Lans

Welcome to my BeyeNETWORK Expert Channel on virtual data warehouse architectures and the data delivery platform.

The last twenty years, the classic data warehouse architecture has served us well. But if we think about the new demands and requirements from our customers, such as real-time data warehousing and increased flexibility, and if we consider new technologies, ranging from data warehouse appliances to mashups, the question we can ask ourselves is whether this is still the best architecture we can come up with. My answer would be "No."

This expert channel will focus on a new architecture called the data delivery platform. The data delivery platform is based on the concept of a virtual data warehouse. This channel will help you understand the data delivery platform, how new technologies make it possible to develop this platform, and the design and architectural principles of the platform.

In a nutshell, the end of the era of the classic data warehouse architecture has come, and like with all other technical solutions and technologies, it is time for a replacement.

As channel expert I will cover technologies, ideas, tools and design principles related to the data delivery platform and virtual data warehouses. I do welcome your questions, comments, ideas and suggestions. Please send them to rick@r20.nl. I am looking forward to lively discussions.

Colin White

Welcome to my channel for providing you with the latest news and views on business intelligence and business integration. Since these two technology domains cover a wide range of topics, I will focus on areas where I spend most of my time. In the business intelligence arena I will look at enterprise data integration and business performance management. For business integration, I will focus on topics such as portals and content management that help extend business intelligence into the knowledge management environment.

Korhan Yunak

Welcome to the Korhan Yunak Channel for the BeyeNETWORK. In this channel, I will be specifically focusing customer value management (CVM), business intelligence (BI) strategy and customer analytics as well as other aspects of business intelligence. In the CVM area, I will take a closer look at the life cycle management of the customer which is used to ensure that the value of the customer is maximised throughout the entire relationship with the organization. The business drivers and approaches around CVM will be addressed with a telco focus. In the BI strategy section, I will identify how BI fits into the broader IT strategy by helping organisations achieve their strategic, tactical and operational goals. Key drivers and emerging trends in the BI market will be shared. Finally on the topic of customer analytics, I will discuss the building blocks to become an analytical competitor, which typically includes the design and building of customer analytic records (CAR), provisioning of modeling, segmenting, optimising, reporting and campaign management services steps.
I will be providing monthly updates to this channel. Your thoughts, questions and suggestions will be more than welcomed so that I can improve the impact of this channel to meet your needs. I hope we will make a difference by combining many thoughts in one convenient location which will help enlarge this great BI ecosystem.
