Published: 31 March 2008
Kognitio will work to develop, release and support a version of its WX2 analytical RDBMS that runs on the open source Solaris OS.

Kognitio a provider of business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing solutions, recently announced that it will work to develop, release and support a version of its WX2 analytical Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) that runs on the open source Solaris Operating System (OS).

"We are pleased that Kognitio has chosen to offer availability of its WX2 analytical database on the open source Solaris OS," said Juan Carlos Soto, Vice President, Global Market Development for Sun Microsystems. "Users can now better leverage WX2's power across many of the industry's leading business intelligence software tools available on Sun blades and rack-mounted servers. Ultimately, this gives the BI/DW marketplace more choice to effectively implement data warehouses."

Kognitio WX2 is one of the most mature analytical database technologies of its type on the market today, capable of helping mid-sized and larger enterprises alike gain unprecedented analytical access to, and insight from, massive amounts of data, thus allowing them to remain ahead of their competitors. More than twenty years of development enables Kognitio WX2 users to gain greater benefits in less time; by enabling users to query, in detail, vast amounts of granular data in just seconds, tests have shown WX2 consistently obtains results 10-60 times faster than typical databases.
